“Global Rhythms: Remembering USAID through the Arts” is a multi-media exhibition that speaks to the core of humanity, transcending cultural and geographical borders. The paintings, photographs, and poems weave a story of cultural and social connections and global and local partnerships that have built a better world. It celebrates the work of Americans who have promoted peace, saved lives, improved living conditions and upheld democratic principles with passion and compassion. Fifty former USAID staff, their implementing partners, and their families and friends came together in a shared belief that USAID’s legacy - its reach, its humanity, its enduring global impact - must not be allowed to fade in silence. They turned to visual art and poetry as vessels of memory to bear witness through creative expression, offering works shaped by pride in lives of service and global impact, by grief for a way of life abruptly lost, and by longing for friendships and partnerships forged across continents.
